Boardroom Table FAQs

What's the difference between melamine and veneer?

Melamine (often listed as MFC, or melamine-faced chipboard) is a durable printed finish bonded to a board core. It's hard-wearing, scratch- and scuff-resistant, easy to wipe clean and more affordable, with a consistent, uniform appearance. Wood veneer is a thin layer of real timber bonded to the core, giving natural grain and a premium, high-end look where no two tables are exactly alike. Veneer costs more and benefits from a little more care, while melamine is the practical choice for high-use boardrooms and busier meeting rooms.

Should I choose a gloss or non-gloss (matte) finish?

A gloss finish has a reflective, polished surface that looks contemporary and striking, ideal for making a statement in a corporate boardroom. The trade-off is that it shows fingerprints, dust and minor scratches more readily. A non-gloss or matte finish has a softer, low-sheen look that hides everyday marks better and suits a more understated or traditional space. Both are available across much of our range.

What size boardroom table do I need?

As a rough guide, allow around 600–750mm of table width per person so everyone has comfortable working space. An 8-seater suits smaller meeting rooms, while 10 to 14-seater tables work for larger boardrooms. Remember to leave roughly a metre of clearance around the table for chairs and walkways.

Can boardroom tables include power and cable management?

Yes — many of our boardroom and conference tables offer integrated power modules and cable management, keeping laptops, screens and conferencing kit connected and the tabletop tidy. Look for this feature in the individual product specifications.
